This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Suwannee River Water Management District.
LOCATION.--Lat 29°35'22", long 82°56'12", referenced to North American Datum of 1927, NW 1/4 sec.29, T.10S., R.14E., Levy County, Hydrologic Unit 03110205, on left bank about 400 ft downstream from Fort Fannin Bridge on U.S. Highway 19, 2.0 mi southwest of Wilcox, and 33 mi upstream from mouth.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and index-velocity meter. Datum of gage is 0.53 ft below NGVD of 1929. Prior to July 4, 1931, nonrecording gage at site 400 ft upstream at present datum. July 4, to Sept. 30, 1931, and Mar. 26 to May 14, 1942, water-stage recorder, and May 15, 1942 to Jan. 24, 1951, nonrecording gage at present site and datum. Feb. 1, 1951 to Dec. 9, 1999, auxiliary water-stage recorder about 9.0 mi downstream from base gage. Datum of auxiliary gage is 2.99 ft below NGVD of 1929. Acoustic velocity meter since Dec. 9, 1999.
REMARKS.--Computed discharge at this station may differ from individual measurements because of changes in tidal influence, wind, or other factors. Flow generally affected by tide when discharge is less than 17,500 ft3/s. Discharge computed from continuous velocity record obtained from index-velocity meter.
