LOCATION - Lat 42°19'18", long 96°29'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.11, T.27 N., R.8 E., Dakota County, NE, Hydrologic Unit 10230001, on left bank 80 feet downstream from Main Street bridge in Homer, and at mile 4.7.
DRAINAGE AREA - 174 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NE-75-1: 1971-73. WDR NE-94-1: Drainage Area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1945 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1310.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 1,080.45 ft above sea level. Prior to Aug. 4, 1952, at bridge 0.5 mi downstream at datum 6.03 ft lower. Aug. 4, 1952 to Nov. 3, 1966, at site 80 ft upstream at datum 2.0 ft higher. Nov. 4, 1966 to Sept. 30, 1989, at present site at datum 2.0 ft higher. June 27, 1984 to Aug. 28, 1984, at temporary site 700 ft downstream at present datum.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - A gage height of 34.5 ft, at site 2.5 miles upstream at present datum; estimated discharge, 51,000 ft³/s, occurred June 4, 1940.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 21,500 ft³/s, July 17, 1996, gage height, 22.30 ft. Maximum peak stage, 28.47 ft, February 19, 1971, at present datum, from floodmark; discharge, 18,100 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 3,700 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurements at gage heights 16.38 ft and 23.62 ft.
