LOCATION.--Lat 40°59'31", long 74°16'48" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Pompton Lakes Borough, Passaic County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030103, on left bank 50 ft upstream from bridge on Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike in Pompton Lakes, 400 ft downstream of Pompton Dam, and 2.0 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA.--160 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1921 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder, water-quality monitor, and concrete weir. Datum of gage is 171.35 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Nov 1, 2004, gage located on right bank 400 feet upstream of current location, above dam, at datum 19.61 ft higher. Prior to Oct 1, 1981, at datum 29.61 ft higher. Operation of automatic gates in the Pompton Lakes Dam during high water may cause significant variations in stage and flow.
