    Somerset County Flood Warning Stage for this gage is 9.5 feet. Somerset County Flood Alarm Stage for this gage is 10.0 feet. Griggstown causeway will flood around 10 feet.

    gage photoLOCATION. --Lat 40°26'24", long 74°37'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Montgomery Township, Somerset County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030105, on left bank, 300 ft downstream from bridge at Griggstown, 200 ft downstream from Simonson Brook, and 300 ft downstream from Griggstown Causeway.
    DRAINAGE AREA. --229 mi2.
    PERIOD OF RECORD. --Water years 1938, 1960-61, 1971, 1997, 1999 to current year.
    GAGE. --Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 26.52 ft above NGVD of 1929. Diurnal fluctuations in gage height and water temperature possibly due to flow pattern in sewage effluent that enter the river upstream of gage.
    EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD. --Maximum gage height, 23.2 ft, Sep 16, 1999.
    COOPERATION. --Funding for this gage is provided by Somerset County New Jersey and the U.S. Geological Survey.
