ATTENTION
The physical location of this streamgage has changed. The gage is now
located at the Euclid Ave. (West Lake Ave.) bridge, approximately 0.4 mi
upstream from the previous location. The move was necessitated by the
removal of Dam #2 by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources beginning
on May 28, 2014. Gage height values at the new location are set based on
the same datum as the old location, so all values are comparable. Concurrent
data collection prior to the dam removal showed that water levels above a
gage height of about 3.50 ft were very similar at both locations. Water
levels below that gage height showed more variability likely due to channel
variations; however the differences were still within +/- 0.25 ft over the
range of flows. The overall effects of the dam removal on water levels within
the area are yet to be determined.
