LOCATION.--Lat 44° 17'37", long 115° 38'44"(Rev.)(NAD83), in SW1/4 SE1/4 sec.8, T.11 N., R.7 E., Valley County, Deadwood Reservoir quad., Hydrologic Unit 17050120, Boise National Forest, at dam on Deadwood River, 15 mi north of Lowman, and at mile 18.0.

DRAINAGE AREA.--109 mi2, revised.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1935 to September 1996 (discontinued).

REVISED RECORDS.--WSP 1567: Drainage area.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is sea level (levels by U.S. Bureau of Reclamation). U.S. Geological Survey datum is 22.8 ft higher. Prior to July 1, 1964, nonrecording gage.

REMARKS.--Reservoir was formed by concrete-arch dam completed in 1930; storage began Nov. 2, 1930. Reported capacity, 160,400 acre-ft between elevations 5,230.0 ft, minimum operating level for fish protection, 27 ft above sill of emergency gate in front of needle valve, and 5,334.0 ft crest of spillway. Storage below elevation 5,230 ft, about 1,500 acre-ft. Water is used to augment flow of Payette River at Black Canyon powerplant near Emmett and, since 1956, as supplemental irrigation supply for Emmett Irrigation District and other users. Small diversion from a tributary of Johnson Creek in Salmon River basin to Deadwood River basin for supplemental storage in Deadwood Reservoir was removed Sept. 20, 1988.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum elevation observed, 5,337.43 ft June 25, 1974; minimum observed, about 5,205 ft Sept. 18 to Oct. 11, 1951, Aug. 30 to Sept. 30, 1973, Oct. 1-4, 1974, when reservoir was drained for repairs.
