This gaging station can no longer be operated at this location. The station was discontinued on February 28, 2012. On April 27, 2012, a new gage was installed to replace this gage on Cedar Creek at Western Boulevard near Lanoka Harbor, NJ USGS Station number 01408900
LOCATION. --Lat 39°52'03", long 74°10'09" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Berkeley Township, Ocean County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02040301, on right bank 50 ft upstream from bridge on U.S. Highway 9, at village of Lanoka Harbor, 2.0 mi upstream from mouth, and 6.0 mi south of Toms River.
DRAINAGE AREA. --53.3 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD. --July 1932 to September 1958, October 1970 to September 1971, October 2003 to current year. Operated as a crest-stage partial-record station 1962, also as a tidal crest-gage station 1979-85, 1993.
GAGE. --Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, tidal crest-stage gage, and concrete control. Auxiliary tide gage located downstream of control on right upstream wingwall of bridge on U.S. Route 9 and is used to adjust record for tide affect. Datum of gage is -1.21 ft above NAVD of 1988. Occasionally the tide affects the gage height at this gage.
