LOCATION - Lat 36°20'40", long 82°12'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Carter County, TN, Hydrologic Unit 06010103, on left bank 1,500 ft upstream  from bridge on State Highway 91 at Elizabethton, and 1 mile upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 137 mi².  
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 823: Drainage area. WSP 1306: 1913(M), 1915(M), 1929(M), 1931(M). Drainage area at "at Valley Forge" site. WSP 1336: 1933(M), 1938. WSP 1910:1901(M). This data from 1982 water year Water Resources Tennessee book under "Revised Records".
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1, 2016 to current year. June 1907 to June 1908 (gage heights only), October 1911 to September 1916, October 1920 to March 1982 (discontinued). Published as "at Valley Forge" 1911-1916, 1920-1931.Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1306.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, data collection platform. The datum of the gage is 1,524.248 NAVD88 (Vertcon conversion of 1524.73 NGVD). See WSP 1910 for history of changes prior to February 1, 1934.
REMARKS - Record considered good except for estimated periods which are considered poor, and other periods as noted.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of May 21, 1901 reached a stage of about 21.0 ft, discharge, 25,000 ft³/s, from report calculations from the Tennessee Valley Authority.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 14,700 ft³/s, November 6, 1977, gage height, 9.18 ft in gage well; 9.34 ft from floodmarks; minimum discharge, 17 ft³/s, August 31, September 7, 1925: minimum gage height, 0.18 ft June 22, 1970 (result of construction upstream).
