LOCATION - Lat 35°47'07.93", long 83°53'04.93" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Blount County, TN, Hydrologic Unit 06010201, on left bank 200 ft above bridge on U.S. Highway 411, 0.8 mi downstream from Crooked Creek, 5.0 mi east of Maryville, and at mile 17.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 269 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - In the summary statistics section of the report for 2011 http://wdr.water.usgs.gov/wy2011/pdfs/03498500.2011.pdf , the Water Years 1951-2011 instantaneous low flow (29 ft³/s on Oct. 17, 2007) was incorrectly footnoted ("b") as being determined from a mark on the crest stage gage. This footnote should have been associated with the maximum peak stage (27.95 ft. on Mar. 28, 1994). The instantaneous low flow should have been footnoted ("c")as also occurring on Oct. 18 and 19, 2007.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Feb. 25, 1875, reached a stage of 31 ft, discharge, 50,000 ft³/s, and flood of April 1, 1896, reached a stage of 26 ft, discharge, 36,000 ft³/s, from reports by Tennessee Valley Authority.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 42,100 ft³/s, March 28, 1994, from rating curve extended above 14,800 ft³/s, on basis of area-velocity study and road overflow computations, maximum gage height, 27.95 ft., from dross line on pump house; minimum discharge, 29 ft³/s, October 17-19, 2007.
