07026500 REELFOOT CREEK NEAR SAMBURG, TN
LOCATION - Lat 36°26'32", long 89°17'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Obion County, TN, Hydrologic Unit 08010202, at bridge on State Hwy. 22, 5.0 miles northeast of Samburg, 14 miles west of Union City and 0.5 mile downstream of confluence of North Reelfoot Creek and South Reelfoot Creek, and 4 miles from the mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 110 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1950 to September 1972, January 2013 to current year. Prior to December 1950 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1731. October 2005 to September 2006, miscellaneous discharge measurements.
GAGE - Data collection platform. Datum of gage is 286.77 ft. NAVD 1988 determined by survey grade GPS, prior to 1972 datum of gage 286.26 ft. NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS - Records fair except for flows below 10 ft³/sec and estimated daily discharges which are poor and other periods as noted. Records poor Aug. 15, 2014 to Oct. 21, 2014.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge 16,600 ft³/s, June 13, 1970; gage height, 17.21 ft, present site and at datum then in use. Zero flow occurs for several days some years.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 25, 2013 to current year (permanent data).
INSTRUMENTATION - Tipping bucket precipitation gage and data collection platform with satellite telemetry.
REMARKS - Precipitation data collected during freezing period which may not accurately reflect daily record.
