LOCATION - Lat 34°25'34", long 92°53'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.36, T.3 S., R.18 W., Hot Spring County, AR, Hydrologic Unit 08040102, at right bank 1,000 ft downstream from Remmel Dam, and 0.8 mi above Jones Mill.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,550 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 248.16 ft above NGVD of 1929. Mar 1903 to Apr 1905, nonrecording gage 5.8 mi downstream at datum 18.11 ft lower. Jun 1922 to Sep 1924, nonrecording gage 5.8 mi downstream at datum 20.11 ft lower. Jan 1925 to Mar 1937, water-stage recorder at Remmel Dam at present datum. Apr 1937 to Sep 1991 water-stage recorder 5.8 mi downstream at datum 20.11 ft lower. Oct 1991 to Sep 2002, water-stage recorder 0.8 mi downstream at present datum.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge 166,000 ft³/s May 20, 1990 from rating curve extended above 120,000 ft³/s on basis of computations of peak flow over Remmel Dam, 0.8 mi upstream from site then in use, adjusted for flow from intervening area. Maximum peak stage 30.30 ft May 15, 1923 from floodmark and maximum gage height for period of record at different site and datum.
