LOCATION - Lat 39°22'24", long 120°07'50" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.31, T.18 N., R.17 E., Nevada County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 16050102, on left bank, in the outlet pool of Prosser Creek Dam, roughly 4.2 mi northeast of Truckee.

PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1902 to June 1903 (gage heights only), October 1942 to December 1950, June 1951 to current year. Prior to October 1976, published as "near Boca." Monthly discharge only for October 1942 to December 1950 published in WSP 1734; daily discharge in files of U.S. Geological Survey. Records for April 1889 to November 1890, published in the 11th and 12th Annual Reports, Part 2, have been found to be unreliable and should not be used.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1943-63, prior to construction of Prosser Creek Dam, maximum discharge, 4,560 ft³/s, Dec. 23, 1955, gage height, 10.13 ft, present datum, from rating curve extended above 910 ft³/s, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow, maximum gage height, 11.0 ft, from floodmarks, present datum, Nov. 20, 1950; minimum discharge, 0.4 ft³/s, July 18, 1961, result of work on dam upstream.
Maximum discharge since construction of Prosser Creek Dam in 1963, 2,030 ft³/s, Jan. 3, 1997, gage height, 6.72 ft, from rating curve extended above 880 ft³/s, on basis of valve setting at Prosser Creek Dam; minimum daily, 0.02 ft³/s, Jan. 2, 1975, result of temporary closing of Prosser Creek Dam for spillway maintenance.
