LOCATION - Lat 43°22'45", long 70°35'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, York County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01060003, on left bank 20 ft upstream of State Route 9A highway bridge at Kennebunk-Wells town line, 2.1 mi west of Kennebunk, and 3.3 mi upstream from mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA - 10.7 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: December 2008 to current year. Annual peaks only, 1965 to 1974.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and modified weir plate. Datum of gage is 42.55 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.

Water Year 2016: Records good, except for the periods of ice effect, Jan. 4-7, 12-30, Feb. 8-16, 18-20, 29, and Mar. 2-8, which are fair.

Water Year 2015: Records good, except for periods of doubtful stage-discharge relation, July 30 to Aug. 4, Aug. 6-11, which are fair, and period of ice effect, Jan. 11 to Mar. 26, which is poor.

Water Year 2014: Records good, except for periods of ice effect, Nov. 25, Dec. 25 to Jan. 4, Jan. 17 to Feb. 20, and Feb. 24 to Mar. 29, which are fair.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - The flood of May 13-15, 2006 reached a discharge of 1,500 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 134 ft³/s.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 723 ft³/s, May 4, 1972, (no corresponding gage height was recorded for the period of record); minimum discharge, 1.2 ft³/s, Nov. 24, 2013, result of freeze-up; gage height, 1.47 ft.
