01105880 HERRING RIVER AT NORTH HARWICH, MA
LOCATION - Lat 41°42'00", long 70°06'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Barnstable County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01090002, on right downstream side of bridge (Rt 6 eastbound) at North Harwich.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9.40 mi².  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1966-88, October 2007 to current year.
GAGE - Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 9.12 ft above NAVD 1988, estimated from topographic map. Datum previously reported as 10 ft above NGVD 1929, estimated from topographic map. Gage located 50 ft upstream at different datum during water years 1966-88.
COOPERATION - Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Water Resources.
REMARKS - Records fair except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flows occasionally affected by stored and released water from upstream cranberry bog operations. This stream drains from a ground-water basin which is larger or smaller than, and not coincident with, the surface-water basin.

The historical maximum peak stage of 4.88 ft on June 6, 1967 is at datum of original gage location, in use from 1966-88.
