LOCATION - Lat 41°33'31", long 72°07'19" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, New London County, CT, Hydrologic Unit 01100003, on left bank at Yantic, 700 ft downstream from stone-arch highway bridge, 1 mi downstream from Susquetonscut Brook, and 4.8 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 89.3 mi².

  • EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 13,500 ft³/s, Sep. 21, 1938, gage height, 14.66 ft, from computation of flow over two dams 2.4 mi. upstream and 3.0 mi. downstream, respectively. Maximum peak stage, 14.88 ft., June 6, 1982, the result of backwater due to reconstruction of the river bank. Minimum discharge, 2.2 ft³/s, Aug. 30, 1963 and Oct. 8, 2016.
