LOCATION - Lat 43°20'00", long 72°30'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Windsor County, VT, Hydrologic Unit 01080106, in North Springfield, 600 ft upstream from State Highway 106, 0.3 mi upstream from Great Brook, 0.6 mi downstream from North Springfield Dam, 0.9 mi east of State Highway 10 and 106 intersection in North Springfield,  2.9 mi northwest of State Highway 11 and 143 intersection in Springfield, and 7.8 mi upstream of mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 158 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 756: Drainage area. WSP 781: 1931(M), 1934(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: October 1929 to September 1989 and October 2017 to current year. October 1929 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1301. Partial-record station: October 1989 to September 2017. Peak Streamflow: Water years 1930 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 445.36 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).

REMARKS - WATER YEARS 2018-2020: Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by powerplants and mills upstream and by North Springfield Reservoir since November 1960. High flow slightly affected by retarding reservoirs since 1968.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 15,500 ft³/s, Sept. 22, 1938, gage height, 17.68 ft, from rating curve extended above 3,200 ft³/s on basis of computations of flow over dams at gage heights 16.41 ft and 17.68 ft. Maximum discharge since construction of North Springfield Dam in 1960, 4,340 ft³/s, Sept. 2, 2011, gage height 8.18 ft.
