LOCATION - Lat 42°42'12", long 72°40'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Franklin County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01080203, on right bank 0.5 mi upstream from bridge on West Leyden Road and 2.5 mi northeast of Colrain.

DRAINAGE AREA - 41.4 mi².

REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR MA-NH-RI-VT-71-1: 1968(M), 1969; 1998-2004, MA-RI-05-1(M),MA-RI-11-1(M). Annual peak discharge for listed water year is revised as follows: 2011, 13,200 ft³/s, Aug. 28, 2011.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: October 1967 to current year. Water-quality records: Water years 1968-69, 1993-95, 2002-05; intermittent water-quality samples, water years 1968-69, 1993-95, 2002-05; continuous water-quality records, water years 2002 and 2003.

REMARKS -

WY2016: Records good, except for periods of ice effect, Jan. 5-9 and Jan. 12 to Feb. 17, which are poor.

WY2015: Records good, except for periods of ice effect, Dec. 30, 2014 to Apr. 4, 2015, and periods of no gage-height record, Dec. 7, 9-10, 18, 23-26, 2014, Jan. 5, 25, Mar. 9-11, 19, 21, 27-28, Apr. 3, 15, 2015, which are poor.

WY2014: Records fair, except those for estimated daily discharges, and those for discharges greater than 2,000 ft³/s, which are poor.

Maximum peak flow, 13,200 ft³/s, Aug. 28, 2011, from rating curve extended above 1,500 ft³/s on basis of slope-area and contracted-opening indirect measurements of peak flow. Maximum peak stage, 13.97 ft, from high-water mark.
