LOCATION - Lat 42°02'15.00", long 72°56'21.58" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Hartford County, CT, Hydrologic Unit 01080207, on left bank at Massachusetts-Connecticut Stateline, 800 ft upstream from bridge on State Rt. 20, 0.5 mi upstream from confluence with Valley Brook, and 2.6 mi northeast of West Hartland.
DRAINAGE AREA - 19.9 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR CT-83-1: Drainage area. WDR US-13-1: 2005-2012 (P).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1938 to September 1955, September 1956 to current year. Monthly discharge only for periods January 1938 to September 1955, October 1956 to September 1960, published in WSP 1721. GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage and stepped sharp-crested weir. Datum of gage is 594.57 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to October 1, 1981, at datum 0.05 ft higher. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Gage-height record prior to May 28, 1982 furnished by Water Bureau, Metropolitan District Commission, Hartford, Connecticut.
REMARKS -

  • EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow of 10,500 ft³/s on Aug. 19, 1955 is from the rating curve extended above 300 ft³/s on basis of contracted-opening measurement of peak flow. Maximum peak stage of 16.50 ft. on Aug. 19, 1955 is from high water marks in the gage well.
