01194500 EAST BRANCH EIGHTMILE RIVER NEAR NORTH LYME, CT

LOCATION - Lat 41°25'39.06", long 72°20'05.20" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, New London County, CT, Hydrologic Unit 01080205, on left bank at State Rte. 156 bridge, 0.7 mi south of intersection of State Rte. 82, 0.4 mi upstream from confluence of Eightmile River, and 5.5 mi above mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA - 22.3 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1937 to September 1981, August 2001 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 54.13 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Gage datum was incorrectly reported from 2001 - 2004 as 53.97 ft. Prior to Oct. 1, 1964, at datum 1.00 ft higher. Satellite telemetry at station.

Maximum peak stage of 7.00 ft. on Sept. 21, 1938 was at datum then in use.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 6, 1982, reached a stage of 10.22 ft., present datum, discharge, 5,170 ft³/s.
