01306500 CONNETQUOT RIVER NEAR OAKDALE, NY
LOCATION - Lat 40°44'51", long 73°09'01" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Suffolk County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02030202, on left bank just downstream from bridge on State Highway 27, 1.0 mi west of Oakdale, and 2 mi north of Village of Great River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 24.5 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR-US-2009: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1943 to current year (monthly means estimated October 1974 to September 1975).
GAGE - There is no gage. Since September 2015, discharge is estimated based on records for Connetquot Brook near Central Islip (01306460). Prior to September 2015, discharge reflected the combined flows at a base gage on the Connetquot River and a supplementary gage on a secondary channel 0.25 mi northeast of base gage. Base gage (01306499): Water-stage recorder and wooden stoplog control at datum of 1.56 ft above NGVD of 1929. Supplementary gage (01306495): Water-stage recorder with concrete control on left bank of secondary channel 0.25 mi northeast of base gage at datum of 4.74 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Aug. 10, 1965, at datum 1.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Flow at both gages occasionally regulated by cleaning operations at outlets of ponds above stations. Discharge figures are those of combined flows in main and secondary channels.
Water Years 2014-15: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
Water Years 2016-22: Records poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily discharge, 263 ft³/s, Oct. 16, 1955; minimum daily discharge, 9.3 ft³/s, Nov. 25, 27, 1982, result of regulation. Maximum and minimum instantaneous discharges not determined.
