LOCATION - Lat 41°59'45.9", long 74°30'00.8" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Ulster County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02040104, on right bank 0.3 mi upstream from Pigeon Brook, 0.7 mi upstream from mouth, and 0.8 mi northeast of Frost Valley.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3.72 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NY-91-1: Drainage area. WDR NY-94-1: 1984(P), 1985(M), 1987(P), 1989(P), 1993(P). Datum of gage was revised on Oct. 3, 2022, from 2,082.53 ft above NAVD of 1988 to 2,057.25 ft above NAVD of 1988 based on an updated geodetic survey.

PERIOD OF RECORD - Occasional discharge measurements, water year 1983. June 1983 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 2,057.25 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Sept. 11, 1987, at datum 6.00 ft higher. Sept. 11, 1987 to Sept. 5, 2011, at datum 5.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Water Years 2014-23: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, about 1,500 ft³/s, Aug. 28, 2011, gage height, 11.37 ft, present datum, from crest-stage gage, from rating curve extended above 390 ft³/s on basis of runoff comparisons with nearby stations; minimum discharge, 0.24 ft³/s, Sept. 2, 3, 1991, gage height, 5.75 ft, present datum; minimum gage height, 2.20 ft, Aug. 9, 10, Sept. 2, 3, 2012.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: September 2018 to current year. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: January 2020 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - A continuous water-quality monitor with water temperature and specific conductance provides 15-minute-interval readings.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 17 uS/cm at 25 °C, on many days; minimum, 8 uS/cm at 25 °C, Feb. 29, Mar. 1, 2020. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 18.6 °C, Aug. 8, 2022; minimum, -0.1 °C on many days during winter periods.
