01546500 SPRING CREEK NEAR AXEMANN, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°53'23", long 77°47'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Centre County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050204, on right bank at upstream side of bridge on SR 3001, 1.6 mi west of Axemann, 1.8 mi southwest of Bellefonte, and 2.5 mi upstream from Logan Branch.
DRAINAGE AREA - 87.2 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1940 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 788.14 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to Nov 19, 1940, non-recording gage at same site and datum. Non-recording gage Mar 6 to Sep 30, 1995. Prior to September 1, 2023, the datum of gage was reported as 788.81 ft. above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Occasional regulation at low flow by fish hatchery and Rockview Penitentiary. Records for water year 2014 are good; no estimated daily discharges. Records for water year 2015 are good except for estimated daily discharges, which are fair. Records for water years 2016-2017 are good; no estimated daily discharges. Records for water year 2018 are good except for flow greater than 500 cfs and estimated discharge, which is fair. Records for water year 2019 are fair except for flow greater than 500 cfs and estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water year 2020 are good except for flow greater than 300 cfs, which is poor. Records for water year 2021 are fair except for flow greater than 800 cfs, which is poor. 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of March 1936 reached a stage of 8.6 ft, from information by local residents, discharge not determined.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, Pa. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
