01563200 RAYSTOWN BRANCH JUNIATA RIVER BELOW RAYSTOWN DAM NEAR HUNTINGDON, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°25'44", long 77°59'29" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Huntingdon County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050303, on left bank 0.74 mi downstream from Raystown Dam on Township Route 430, 4.0 mi south of Huntingdon, and 4.6 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 960 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1946 to current year. Prior to October 1946 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1302. Prior to Oct 1, 1969, published as "Raystown Branch Juniata River near Huntingdon".
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest stage gage. Datum of gage is 597.36 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark). Prior to Oct 1, 1969, water-stage recorder at site 4.3 mi upstream at datum 22.72 ft higher. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since October 1972 by Raystown Dam (station 01563100). Records for 2014 water year are good, except those for discharges greater than 830 ft³/s, which are fair; no estimated daily discharges. Records for 2015 water year are good, except those for discharges greater than 1700 ft³/s, which are fair and period July 8-30 and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for 2016 water year are good, except those for discharges greater than 1700 ft³/s, which are fair and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for 2017 water year are good, except those for discharges greater than 3600 ft³/s, which are fair and estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water years 2018-2019 are good. Records for water year 2020 are good except for June 15 - Sept 30, which is fair. Records for water years 2021-2023 are good.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Mar 18, 1936, reached a stage of 31.0 ft, discharge, 87,000 ft³/s, at previous site and datum, by computation of peak discharge at dam.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: October 1980 to September 1986. October 2017 to current year. 
INSTRUMENTATION - Water temperature sensor with a 15 minute interval interfaced with a data collection platform.
REMARKS - WATER TEMPERATURE: Water Year 2018 record is rated good. Beginning in water year 2019, water quality records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".
