02301721 ALAFIA RIVER AT GIBSONTON, FL.
LOCATION - Lat 27°51'34", long 82°23'04" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Hillsborough County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03100204, on U.S. Highway 41 bridge, 0.6 mi north of Gibsonton, and 1.1 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 418 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1987 to September 1989 (tidal stage data); October 1998 to September 2003 (maximum and minumum gage heights only); October 2003 to September 2010 (tidal high-high and low-low gage heights only); October 2010 to current year (maximum and minimum gage heights only).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is at National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 and 0.89 ft below North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to October 1, 2004, datum of gage is 10.00 ft below NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with Tampa Bay Water.
REMARKS - Gage height at this site is significantly affected by astronomical tides. The extremes for periods published previously as tidal high-high and low-low gage heights are equivalent to maximum and minimum gage heights.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 6.34 ft, Aug. 30, 2023 (at present datum); minimum, 5.74ft below NGVD of 29, Sept. 28, 2022.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1999 to May 2000 (top and bottom sensors); June 2000 to September 2015 (top, middle, and bottom sensors); October 2015 to current (top and bottom sensors).
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with Tampa Bay Water.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor consisting of specific conductance and temperature sensors located approximately 4.8 ft below National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, 6.1 ft below NGVD 29, and 7.8 ft below NGVD 29.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Top sensor maximum, 52,200 microsiemens, June 3, 2000; bottom sensor maximum, 52,100 microsiemens, May 31, June 1, 2007; top sensor minimum, 123 microsiemens, Sept. 11, 2017; bottom sensor minimum, 140 microsiemens, Sept. 15, 2001, Jan. 1, 2, 3, 2003.
