02339400 WEST POINT LAKE NEAR WEST POINT, GA
LOCATION - Lat 32°55'05.7", long 85°11'15.9" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Troup County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03130002, at forebay of dam on Chattahoochee River, 2.3 miles upstream from Oseligee Creek, 3.0 miles north of West Point, 3.2 miles upstream from bridge on US 29, and at mile 201.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,440 mi². revised.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR GA-2013: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2007 to current year. Elevation records collected at same site from June 1975 to April 2007, in files of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 0.06 feet above National American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.

Lake is formed by concrete gravity dam with earth dikes at either side. Spillway (crest elevation 597 feet) is equipped with six tainter gates 50 feet wide by 41 feet high. Storage began October 16, 1974; lake reached maximum power pool, 635 feet, on June 10, 1975. Total capacity at elevation, 641 feet; maximum flood control pool, 774,800 acre-feet Capacity at elevation, 635 feet, maximum power pool, 604,500 acre-feet Dead storage below elevation 620 feet, minimum power pool, 298,400 acre-feet Lake is used for flood control and power. Capacity table furnished by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
