LOCATION - Lat 31°21'49", long 87°45'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Clarke County, AL, Hydrologic Unit 03150204, on right bank 0.4 mi north of Choctaw Bluff, 6.9 mi downstream of Sizemore Creek, and at mile 42.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 22,360 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2023 to current year; Boyer-adjusted discharge computation; July 2021 to April 2023; stage only with periodic discharge measurements. October 2001 to January 2012; stage only. October 1978 to September 2001 in files of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by reservoirs and locks and dams on Etowah, Coosa, Tallapoosa, and Alabama Rivers. (see Reservoirs in Mobile River basin).
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Significant flood events include 29.88 ft, April 1976; 29.90 ft, March 1979; 30.64 ft, April 1979; 31.51 ft, March 1990.
