LOCATION - Lat 30°22'04", long 88°33'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.05, T.8 S., R.6 W., Jackson County, MS, Hydrologic Unit 03170006, St. Stephens Meridian, on east side of Pascagoula River at NOAA dock, about 1 mile upstream from mouth of river.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1972, 1974-92, 1994-97, 2000 to current year. PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD.-- GAGE HEIGHT: October 2005 to current year.
GAGE - Submersible transducer and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is NAVD of 1988. Prior to 2012 Water Year, records published to NGVD 1929.
REMARKS - Gage-height records good. Interruptions in the record were due to malfunctions of the instrument. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD.-- GAGE-HEIGHT: Maximum recorded, 6.28 ft, Sept. 1, 2008, but may have been higher during periods of instrument malfunction; minimum recorded, -2.20 ft, Jan. 2, 2008, but may have been lower during periods of instrument malfunction.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - GAGE HEIGHT: Maximum, 17.1 ft, Aug. 29, 2005, tidal surge resulting from Hurricane Katrina, from high-water mark.
