03021518 UNION CITY RESERVOIR ON FRENCH CREEK NEAR UNION CITY, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°55'13", long 79°53'59" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Erie County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010004, in tower at left center of Union City Dam on French Creek, 1.4 mi upstream from South Branch French Creek, and 3.2 mi northwest of Union City.
DRAINAGE AREA - 220 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1970 to September 2015 (elevation and contents), October 2015 to current year (elevation).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is referenced to North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark. Prior to April 2010, datum of gage was referenced to National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). Conversion from NGVD29 to NAVD88 at this location is: NGVD29 elevation - 0.58 ft = NAVD88 elevation. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS - Reservoir is formed by earthfill dam with sidehill, concrete-lined spillway completed September 1971. Dam became operational in July 1970. Usable capacity 47,650 acre-ft between elevation 1,209.42 ft (invert of inlet of conduit) and 1,277.42 ft (crest of spillway). No dead storage. Figures given herein represent usable contents. Reservoir is used for flood control only.
