03038500 CROOKED CREEK LAKE NEAR FORD CITY, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°42'51", long 79°30'30" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Armstrong County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010006, in gatehouse on east side of dam on Crooked Creek, 7 mi upstream from the Allegheny River, and 4 mi southeast of Ford City.
DRAINAGE AREA - 277 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1940 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Reservoir elevations are referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1988 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bench mark). Prior to 2009, the datum of gage was referenced to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers datum. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S, Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS - Lake is formed by a rolled earthfill dam with an impervious core. Storage began in July 1940. Usable capacity is 93,900 acre-ft at an elevation of 920 ft. Figures given herein represent usable contents. Lake is used for flood control, water quality, recreation, and fish and wildlife conservation.  Records furnished by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1940 through 2006.  Records of stage for lake elevation for water year 2017 is rated good. Records of stage for lake elevation for water year 2018 is rated good. Records of stage for lake elevation for water year 2019 is rated good.  Records of stage for lake elevation for water year 2020 is rated good.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation, 901.29 ft, June 25, 1972; minimum elevation, 827.62 ft, Nov 30, 1964 (from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers records).
