03082500 YOUGHIOGHENY RIVER AT CONNELLSVILLE, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°01'03.1", long 79°35'35.6" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Fayette County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05020006, on left bank at downstream side of Crawford Avenue bridge at Connellsville, 1.2 mi upstream from Mounts Creek, at river mile 44.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,326 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 743: Drainage area. WSP 1305: 1912 (M), 1914 (M), 1916-17 (M), 1918, 1922-25. WSP 1435: 1919-20. WSP 1725: 1916, 1932 (monthly, yearly summaries).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1908 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 859.52 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to Aug 15, 1928, non-recording gage, and Aug 15, 1928 to Jul 7, 1958, water-stage recorder at same site and datum. Jul 8, 1958 to Sep 8, 1959, non-recording gage at site 0.4 mi downstream at different datum.  Prior to January 4, 2024, the datum of gage was reported as 860.13 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since January 1925 by Deep Creek Reservoir, since December 1942 by Youghiogheny River Lake (station 03077000) 29.4 mi upstream, and by several smaller reservoirs upstream of station. Records are good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.

COOPERATION - Funding for the operation of the water-quality monitor is provided by the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County.
REMARKS - Interruptions in the record are due to low stage, excessive fouling or equipment malfunctions. For water year 2014: water temperature records rated good; specific conductance records rated good except for those from December 2 to 4, and August 20 to 21, which are fair; pH records rated good except for those from December 16 to 17, January 13 to 26, and April 1 to 3, which are fair, and January 27 to March 24, and April 4 to 21, which are poor; dissolved oxygen records rated good.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 423 microsiemens/cm, Feb 26, 2013; minimum, 72 microsiemens/cm, May 15, 2011. PH: Maximum, 8.7 standard units, Aug 4, 2012; minimum, 6.3 standard units, March 18, April 23, 24, 2012. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 27.6°C, Jul 18, 2012; minimum, -0.4°C, on many days during winter periods. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: Maximum, 15.0 mg/L, Feb 9, 2011; minimum 6.6 mg/L, several days in 2012 water year.
