03098600 MAHONING RIVER BELOW WEST AVENUE AT YOUNGSTOWN, OH
LOCATION - Lat 41°06'18", long 80°39'46" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Mahoning County, OH, Hydrologic Unit 05030103, on left bank 200 ft below West Avenue Bridge, 0.4 mi upstream from Spring Common Bridge, 0.6 mi downstream from Mill Creek, in Youngstown.
DRAINAGE AREA - 978 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1987 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 823.51 ft (NAVD 1988). Prior to July 2015, datum of gage was 824.10 ft (NGVD 1929).
REMARKS -

Water diversions exist both upstream and downstream of gage. Flow regulated by a lake, 49 mi upstream, beginning in 1942; by a reservoir, 41 mi upstream; by a reservoir, 44 mi upstream on West Branch, beginning in 1966; by a lake, 23 mi upstream, beginning in 1943; by a reservoir, 12 mi upstream, beginning in 1929; and by reservoir on Squaw Creek, 6 mi upstream, and 2 small reservoirs on Mill Creek, 0.6 mi upstream. Water-quality data collected at this site. WATER-QUALITY RECORD: Oct. 1, 2013 to Dec. 6, 2018: Water temperature (tank):  Records good except May 13, 2014 to July 20, 2014, and Oct. 12, 2016 to Mar. 21, 2017, which are fair and July 21, 2014 to Aug. 2, 2014, and Aug. 26, 2014 to Dec. 5, 2014, which are poor. Specific conductance:  Records good except Dec. 6, 2014 to Mar. 11, 2015, Sept. 8, 2015 to Sept. 30, 2015, Feb. 1 to Mar. 30, 2016, Oct. 12, 2016 to Mar. 21, 2017, and Oct. 18, 2017 to Nov. 9, 2017, which are fair and May 29, 2018 to Dec. 6, 2018, which are poor. pH:   Records good except May 29, 2014 to July 2, 2014, Oct. 1-31, 2014, Apr. 7, 2015 - September 8, 2015, Oct. 12, 2016 to Aug. 14, 2017, and Apr. 11, 2018 to May 29, 2018, which are fair, and Dec. 4, 2013 to Jan. 3, 2014, and Feb. 22, 2015, which are poor. Dissolved oxygen: Records good except Dec. 4, 2013 to Jan. 3, 2014, Mar. 18, 2014 to May 12, 2014, Oct. 1, 2014 to May 9, 2015, Oct. 12, 2016 to Aug. 14, 2017, and Aug. 23, 2018 to Nov. 14, 2018, which are fair, Feb. 1, 2014 to March 18, 2014, May 10, 2015 to May 21, 2015, June 16, 2015 to June 30, 2015, June 11, 2018 to June 22, 2018, and July 24, 2018 to Aug. 23, 2018, which are poor.
