LOCATION - Lat 37°50'38.0", long 84°26'26.5" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Madison County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05100205, at Lock and Dam 9 at Valley View, 1.0 miles below Tate Creek, and at mile 157.9.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4,101 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WRD KY02-01, peak.  Datum of gage was previously reported as 538.71 ft above NGVD of 1929.  This datum was revised to 538.54 above NGVD of 1929 on Dec 20, 2022.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1999 to current year.
GAGE - Fixed weir dam with water-stage recorder, full range of staffs, and crest stage gages.  Datum is 538.0 feet above NAVD of 1988 and 538.54 ft above NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - Kentucky River Authority.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Buckhorn Lake beginning December 1960 (station 03280800), and by Carr Fork Lake beginning January 1976 (station 03277446). Small diversions by City of Lexington waterworks. June 5, 2007, gage relocated 2,000 feet upstream due to construction on the Dam. Gage moved back to dam after completion of new dam on November 3, 2010.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

Maximum discharge 93,900 ft^3/s, Mar 3, 2021; gage height 41.05 ft; Maximum gage height 41.30 ft Mar 3, 2021.

Lowest daily mean 1.9 ft³/s on September 6, 2007.
