LOCATION - Lat 34°45'06", long 86°49'24" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Limestone County, AL, Hydrologic Unit 06030002, on downstream side of U.S. Highway 72 bridge, 9 mi east of Athens, 12 mi west of Huntsville, and at mile 17.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 119 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to September 1970. October 1970 to September 1985 (annual peak discharge only). October 1994 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 626.455 ft. above NAVD of 1988.
COOPERATION - Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
REMARKS - Records good except for estimated discharges which are poor and other periods as noted.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - March 16, 1973 event,17.28 ft gage height, 38,000 ft³/s based on peak data on NWIS web.
