03582000 ELK RIVER ABOVE FAYETTEVILLE, TN
LOCATION - Lat 35°08'04", long 86°32'23" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Lincoln County, TN, Hydrologic Unit 06030003, on right bank 100 feet downstream from the Eldad Road Bridge, at river mile 93.86, 2.1 miles southeast of the Lincoln County Courthouse in Fayetteville, TN.
DRAINAGE AREA - 827 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1934 to December 1981, August 2008 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform, encoder and crest stage gage. Datum of gage is 650.65 ft above NAVD88. NAVD88 elevation determined from NOAA National Geodetic Survey "Vertcon" model by adjusting the zero of gage elevation of 650.58 (NGVD1929) by +.07 ft to 650.65 ft.
REMARKS - Prior to August 1949, diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by powerplants upstream. Flow regulated by Woods Reservoir since 1952 (see station 03579000), and Tims Ford Lake since December 1970 (see station 03580740). 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in Mar. 1842 reached a stage of 27.5 ft, discharge, 37,000 ft³/s, and flood of Mar. 23, 1929, reached a stage of 27.2 ft, discharge, 36,000 ft³/s, from reports by Tennessee Valley Authority.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 41,600 ft³/s, Mar. 16, 1973, gage height, 28.63 ft; minimum, 67 ft³/s Dec. 9, 10, 11, 1970, gage height, 0.75 ft.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
