LOCATION - Lat 42°42'41.7", long 76°26'02.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Cayuga County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 04140201, 300 ft northeast of intersection of Aurora Street and Warner Road, 50 ft downstream from confluence with Mill Creek, and 0.8 mi west of Moravia.
DRAINAGE AREA - 106 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - 2011 (M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1949-50, 1955-59 (occasional low-flow discharge measurements only); January 1960 to September 1968; water years 1969-70, 1972 (annual maximum only); April 2009 to current year. Prior to April 2009, published as "Owasco Inlet at Moravia" (station 04235300).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 716.73 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to April 2009, at site 0.6 mi downstream at datum 5.56 ft lower.
REMARKS - Water Years 2014-16: Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are fair.
Water Years 2017-23: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 23, 1972, reached a stage of 16.17 ft, site and datum then in use, from floodmarks, discharge, about 5,200 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 11,600 ft³/s, June 30, 1961, gage height, 12.20 ft, site and datum then in use, from rating curve extended above 530 ft³/s on basis of contracted-opening measurement of peak flow; maximum gage height, 12.76 ft, site and datum then in use, Mar. 5, 1964 (backwater from Owasco Lake); minimum discharge, 3.5 ft³/s, Sept. 24, 25, 1964.
