LOCATION - Lat 48°15'42", long 99°11'14" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.07, T.155 N., R.66 W., Ramsey County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020201, on US Highway 2, 0.8 mi east of Churchs Ferry, ND.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,260 mi² of which 140 mi² probably is non-contributing. Drainage area reduced from approximately 2,510 mi² with the completion of Channel A in March 1979.

Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,401.27 ft above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88, survey done by USGS) and 1,400.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29, North Dakota State Water Commission survey, Summer 2006).

 

REMARKS -

Gage heights are frequently affected by wind. Records equivalent to station 05056270 which was operated for Water Years 1998 to 1999 (seasonal records only) and Water Years 2000 to 2010 (miscellaneous discharge measurements only).

Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, published stage records good, except for the 2021 water year, when record was fair.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height recorded, 54.62 ft, June 29, 2011; maximum daily gage height, 54.60 ft, June 29, 2011; minimum daily gage height, 47.45 ft, September 30, 2006.
