LOCATION - Lat 46°46'32", long 96°37'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.9, T.138 N., R.47 W., Clay County, MN, Hydrologic Unit 09020106, gage shelter near left downstream end of County Road 67 bridge, 0.3 mile (0.5 km) downstream from Stony Creek and 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Sabin. A dam is located 7 miles downstream of gage.
DRAINAGE AREA - 454 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1308: 1949(M). WRIR 97-4249: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1945 to current year. Water year 1981, annual maximum only; March 1982 to September 1985, no winter records.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 903.33 ft. NAVD88. 902.39 ft above sea level (NGVD of 1929, levels by Soil Conservation Service). Prior to April 17, 1948, non-recording gage at site one mile downstream at different datum. Aug. 17, 1948 to Oct. 4, 1989, non-recording gage at present site and datum.
REMARKS - Records good to fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 8,500 ft³/s, gage height 19.90 ft, July 2, 1975; maximum daily-mean discharge, 8,200 ft³/s, July 1, 1975; minimum discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, (many days, several years).
