LOCATION - Lat 41°49'17.37", long 87°49'19.33" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.36, T.39 N., R.12 E., Cook County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07120004, on left bank at downstream side of bridge on Barry Point Road in Riverside, 3,940 ft downstream from Salt Creek, and at mile 44.5.
DRAINAGE AREA - 630 mi².

Revisions: Discharge for the period Aug. 16, 2019, to Jan. 14, 2020, was revised on Feb. 12, 2020, based on changes to the applied shifts after comparison with a downstream gage 05533600 Des Plaines River Near Lemont, IL.

Revision: Estimate for the period of Feb. 14, 2021 to Feb. 23, 2021, was revised on Apr. 6, 2021, based on ice estimate done at downstream site 05533600 Des Plaines River Near Lemont, IL which caused water imbalance issues.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Flood of Mar. 18, 1919, reached a discharge of 7,450 ft³/s, gage height, 9.43 ft., present datum, from information furnished by Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 12,200 ft³/s, April 18, 2013;, gage height, 11.28 ft from flood mark; no flow, Aug. 23, 1962; and part of August 31 and October 7, 1974.
SUSPENDED-SEDIMENT CONCENTRATIONS: Maximum daily, 593 mg/L, April 18, 2013; minimum daily, 0.8 mg/L, Feb. 4, 2012.
SUSPENDED-SEDIMENT LOADS: Maximum daily, 14,200 tons, April 18, 2013; minimum daily, 0.50 tons, July 21, 2011.
