LOCATION - Lat 41°36'50.8", long 87°43'46.04" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.15, T.36 N., R.13 E., Cook County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07120003, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on Kilbourn Avenue in Oak Forest, and at mile 5.9.

PERIOD OF RECORD -
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE
  DISCHARGE: October 1950 to current. Prior to October 1974, records published with
    those for streams in the St. Lawrence River basin (WSP 1307, 1727, 1911, 2111, WDR-IL
    1971-74).
  STAGE: Water years 1994 to current.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 619.99 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
REMARKS -
REGULATION AND DIVERSION--Diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by small industrial plants upstream. Water storage upstream includes:
1. Twins Lake Reservoir--completed 1974 by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Office of Water Resources (IDNR, OWR), and provides 950 acre-feet of water storage to significantly reduce flood stages downstream from Cicero Avenue.
2. Tinley Park Reservoir--completed 1998 by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides 616 acre-feet of water storage to significantly reduce flood stages downstream from Harlem Avenue.
3. Pond G--completed 2002 by IDNR, OWR and provides 110 acre-feet of water storage to reduce flood stages downstream from 80th Avenue. Water diversions upstream include:
1. Temporary flow bypass 1.0 mile upstream during Nov. 21, 1962 to Mar. 2, 1963.
2. A 1200 foot diversion from Midlothian Creek to the Calumet-Sag Channel (Cal-Sag) along Kedzie Avenue was constructed by Cook County and completed 1980.
3. A 9200 foot diversion from Natalie Creek (tributary to Midlothian Creek) to the Cal-Sag was constructed by Cook County and completed 1986. Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IL Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 569 ft³/s, Oct. 10, 1954, gage height, 8.49 ft; maximum gage height, 9.00 ft, July 13, 1957, discharge, 550 ft³/s; no flow at times in several years.
