LOCATION - Lat 41°20'05", long 89°22'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.31, T.16 N., R.10 E., Bureau County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07130001, on left bank at downstream side of bridge on County Road, 1300 N, 0.5 mi. downstream from Brush Creek, 2.5 mi. upstream from mouth, and 3.5 mi. north of Bureau.
DRAINAGE AREA - 99 mi².

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 9,260 ft³/s, Feb. 21, 1997, gage height, 17.09 ft; maximum gage height, 17.39 ft, Jan. 24, 1938, present datum, discharge, 6,200 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 2,300 ft³/s; no flow for several days in most years.
NITRATE: Maximum nitrate, 19.5 mg/L Nitrate-Nitrogen, June 1-2, 2013; minimum, 0.44 mg/L, Nov. 11, 2013.
