LOCATION - Lat 44°19'58", long 106°46'36" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.06, T.50 N., R.82 W., Johnson County, WY, Hydrologic Unit 10090206, on left bank at mouth of canyon, 500 ft upstream from abandoned Pacific Power and Light power plant, 2.0 mi downstream from Mosier Gulch, and 4 miles west of Buffalo.
DRAINAGE AREA - 120 mi². approximately.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1309: 1896, 1898, 1938, 1939(M), 1945(M). WSP 1792: 1921.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April to September 1894, May to September 1896, May 1897 to Decemeber 1899, June 1917 to October 1027, April 1938 to September 1992. June 2014 to current year. Published as "at Buffalo" 1897-1898. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1309. Records after October 1987 are not considered equivalent due to installation of diversion for water-supply pipeline for city of Buffalo.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 5,184 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. See WSP 1916 for history of changes prior to 1961. U.S. Geological Survey data collection platform with satellite telemetry at station.
REMARKS - Diversions for irrigation occur upstream from station. Annual mean unadjusted for water-supply diversion starting in 1988. Average discharge prior to water supply diversion (water years 1989-99, 1918-27, 1939-87, 63.5 ft³/s).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow from rating curve extended above 900 ft³/s on basis of area-velocity study.
