LOCATION - Lat 46°50'02", long 100°58'27" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.25, T.139 N., R.82 W., Morton County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 10130203, on left bank near downstream wingwall of bridge on county highway, 3 mi west of Mandan, and 4 mi downstream from Sweetbriar Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,310 mi². approximately.

Datum of gage is 1639.47 feet above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and 1,638.70 feet above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29).

Previous locations and datums are as follows (From WSP 1729 or 1917 for history of changes prior to June 30, 1958):

April 6 to September 30, 1924; Staff gage on old highway bridge, close to present site. Datum was 1,637.2 feet above NAVD88.

March 26, 1928 to March 27, 1943; Chain or wire-weight gages on old highway bridge at present datum.

April 9, 1943 to March 16, 1948; Wire weight gage on Northern Pacific Railway bridge 300 feet upstream at present datum.

March 17 to September 12, 1948; Wire-weight gage on highway bridge at present site and present datum.

September 13, 1948 to June 30, 1958; Water-stage recorder on right bank opposite of present site at present datum.

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted
REGULATION.--Flow regulated by Lake Tschida, 105 mi upstream, since 1949. Some diversions above station.
