LOCATION - Lat 43°22'42.3", long 95°10'52.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.23, T.99 N., R.37 W., Dickinson County, IA, Hydrologic Unit 10230003, at pumping station of Lakeside Laboratory on west shore, 2.3 mi upstream from lake outlet, and 3.8 mi northwest of Milford.
DRAINAGE AREA - 125 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Gage datum was updated to 1,391.65 ft NAVD88 on July 27, 2023, as determined by a GNSS Level II survey. Gage datum was previously published as 1,391.76 ft NGVD29.
 
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Stage-only records from May 1933 to current year, records fragmentary for some periods. Prior to October 1937, published as "Okoboji Lake at Arnold's Park". October 1937 to September 1966, published as "Okoboji Lake at Lakeside Laboratory near Milford".
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,391.65 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 and 94.51 ft above Iowa Lake Survey datum. Prior to June 17, 1938, non-recording gage at State Pier at Arnolds Park at same datum.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IA Water Science Center. Lake formed by concrete dam with ungated spillway at elevation 1,395.8 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Lake is used for conservation and recreation. Area of lake is approximately 3,900 acres.
