LOCATION - Lat 40°07'06", long 99°31'01" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.19, T.2 N., R.20 W., Harlan County, NE, Hydrologic Unit 10250011, on right downstream side of county bridge, 4.1 mi southeast of Stamford.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,840 mi² of which 470 mi² probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1919: 1960. WDR NE-71-1: Calendar year totals. WDR NE-82-1: 1979(M). WDR NE-94-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1945 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1310.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 1966.53 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Oct. 1, 1945 to Sept. 30, 2007, water-stage recorder 2.6 mi upstream at datum 1981.31 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Oct. 1, 2007 to Oct. 4, 2009, water-stage recorder 6.6 mi upstream at datum 2001.02 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted. Flow affected by groundwater irrigation development within the basin.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 43,400 ft³/s, June 24, 1966, from combined peak flow measurements of contracted-opening and flow over road, gage height, 22.13 ft, from floodmark, site and datum then in use.
