LOCATION - Lat 38°37'38.15", long 97°25'39.21" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.15, T.16 S., R.1 W., Saline County, KS, Hydrologic Unit 10260008, on left bank at upstream side of highway bridge, 5.6 mi upstream from Stag Creek, 5.5 mi south of Gypsum, and at mile 19.7.
DRAINAGE AREA - 117 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - January 27-28, 2021
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1954 to September 1971. October 1971 to September 1990, flood hydrograph record. May 2000 to February 2007 (discontinued). September 2016 to date.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,232.16 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to July 21, 1959, nonrecording and crest-stage gages at same site and datum.
REMARKS - Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 11,400 ft³/s, June 26, 1965 (gage height 20.71 ft). Maximum stage known since at least 1869, 22.2 ft, May 29, 1903; flood in April 1929 reached a stage of 21.9 ft, and that of July 11, 1951, a stage of 21.7 ft, from floodmark; information from newspapers and local residents.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Peak flow at the current location occurred on July 4, 2019 at a stage of 36.60 ft. with a computed discharge of 3390 cfs.
