  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -

April 2000 to September 2002 (gage height only). October 2002 to September 2015, October 2015 to October 2019 (Unit values only). Discharge records prior to October 2002 are housed in the USGS Louisiana Water Science Center.

October 24, 2019: Date of last site service due to lack of funding. Site discontinued.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and acoustic velocity meter. Datum of gage is 1.062 feet below NAVD 88 GEOID12a.
REMARKS - Records poor. Site affected by wind, tide, and boat traffic. Satellite telemetry at station.

Positive and negative flows at this site are defined by direction and are specified to be parallel to the channel at the gage location. The positive flow direction is South-Southwest.

Streamflow at this site is affected by astronomical tides.

Tides cause significant cycles of approximately 24.84 hours at this site. Because a different portion of the 24.84 hour tidal cycle is averaged in successive daily (24-hour) computations, a systematic secondary oscillation, unrelated to basin hydrology and having a period of about two weeks may be apparent in daily data published from Nov 1 2000 to Sept 30 2015

No estimated daily discharge. Records poor. Reverse flow at times during year. Gage height and discharge affected by wind and boat traffic at all stages. Satellite telemetry at station.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum recorded positive discharge, 13,400 ft³/s, Aug. 29, 2005; maximum recorded gage height, 5.04 ft, Sep. 13, 2008; maximum recorded negative discharge, -13,800 ft³/s, Aug. 29 ,2012; minimum recorded gage height, -0.48 ft, Jan. 17, 2018.

SALINITY: Maximum, 10.3 ppt, Oct 19, 2006; minimum, 0.1 ppt, on many days. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maxmimum, 33.9°C, Aug 14 and 15, 2007; minimum, 5.4°C, Jan 11, 2010.
