  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
07381328 Houma Navagation Canal at Dulac, LA
LOCATION - Lat 29°23'06", long 90°43'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Terrebonne Parish, LA, Hydrologic Unit 08090302, on a pile cluster 2 miles west of Dulac, LA.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1992 to September 2002, gage height only. July 2002 to current year, gage height and discharge.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and acoustic velocity meter. Prior to July 2002, site was located on pontoon bridge 200 ft upstream of present location. Datum of gage is 0.02 ft above NAVD 88 GEOID03. Prior to Oct 1, 1995, datum of gage was 10.00 ft below NGVD 1929.
REMARKS - Satellite telemetry at station. Discharge data prior to Oct 1, 2002, located at the USGS Louisiana Water Science Center. Positive and negative flows at this site are defined by direction and are specified to be parallel to the channel at the gage location. The positive flow direction is south. Streamflow at this site is tidally influenced. Tides cause significant cycles of approximately 24.84 hours at this site. Because a different portion of the 24.84 hour tidal cycle is averaged in successive daily (24-hour) computations, a systematic secondary oscillation, unrelated to basin hydrology and having a period of about two weeks may be apparent in daily data published from Nov 1 2000 to Sept 30 2015 No estimated daily discharge. Records poor. Reverse flow at times during year. Gage height and discharge affected by wind and boat traffic at all stages. Satellite telemetry at station. Site heavily affected by marine traffic
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum positive discharge, 19,900 ft³/s, Sept. 5, 2011; maximum recorded gage height, 7.17 ft, Sep 12, 2008; maximum recorded negative discharge, -52,800 ft³/s, Sep 12, 2008; minimum recorded gage height, -1.42 ft, Jan 8, 1996. Extremes may have been exceeded during period of missing record due to hurricane Rita and Ike.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1992 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: April 1992 to current year. SALINITY: October 2002 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: June 1992 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor recording specific conductance, salinity, and water temperature.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum recorded, 45,700 microsiemens/cm, May 18, 2000; minimum, 122 microsiemens/cm, Feb 18, 1996. SALINITY: Maximum, 28.4 ppt, Oct 16, 2007; minimum, 0.1 ppt, many times. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 34.2°C, Aug 6, 1999 and Aug 14, 2007; minimum, 4.3°C, Jan 3, 2018.
