LOCATION - Lat 33°20'10", long 97°10'45" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Denton County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030103, on upstream side of Rector Road bridge, 3.10 mi downstream from IH 35, 1.80 mi downstream from Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway Co. bridge and 0.40 mi north of the intersection with Nicholson Road. Prior to Nov. 16, 2021, gage was located on downstream side of Cowling Road bridge, 1,080 ft downstream from IH 35, 1.30 mi upstream from Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway Co. bridge, 1,350 ft downstream from Duck Creek and 1.80 mi south of Sanger.
DRAINAGE AREA - 295 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 565.52 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Nov. 16, 2021, datum was 582.23 ft above NGVD of 1929 3.10 mi upstream at Cowling Road. Apr. 18, 1975 to June 9, 1988, at site 950 ft upstream of Cowling Road at same datum. Prior to Apr. 18, 1975, water-stage recorder at datum 5.00 ft higher. Satellite telemeter at station. 
REMARKS - Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically. Since 1981, at least 10% of contributing drainage area has been regulated. At times flow affected by discharge from floodwater-retarding structures controlling runoff from 149 mi² in the Clear Creek watershed. There are no known diversions above station. No flow at times.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage since at least 1880, 36.5 ft in May 1908, from information by Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway Company. Flood in May 1935 reached a stage of 34.0 ft, from information by Texas Department of Transportation. Both peaks referenced to present site and datum.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - WATER YEARS 1949-1980: Maximum discharge, 18,200 ft³/s, Sept. 13, 1950, gage height, 29.80 ft, at site and datum then in use; no flow at times most years.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - 31 years (water years 1949-80), 74.3 ft³/s (53,830 acre-ft/yr).
