LOCATION - Lat 29°08'07", long 96°44'39" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Jackson County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12100102, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on County Road 283, and 1.2 mi northeast of Morales.
DRAINAGE AREA - 549 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1994 to Sept. 1995 (misc. measurements), Oct. 1996 to Sept. 2000 (daily mean discharge), Oct. 2004 to current year (daily mean stage).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of stage is 65.44 ft. above NGVD of 1929. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Much of low flow during the irrigation season (Apr. to Sept.) comes from drainage from rice fields irrigated by diversions originating from the Colorado River. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 33.50 ft, Oct. 19, 1998 (from floodmark), no flow at times.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - WATER YEARS 1996-2000: 355 ft³/s, (256,900 acre-ft/yr).
