LOCATION - Lat 35°42'30.06", long 105°40'57.73" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, San Miguel County, NM, Hydrologic Unit 13060001, in Santa Fe National Forest, on left bank 30 ft downstream from bridge on private road, 270 ft upstream from Indian Creek, 2.4 mi downstream from Holy Ghost Creek, 9.0 mi north of Pecos, and at mile 896.6. Located on Brush Ranch property.
DRAINAGE AREA - 189 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 898: drainage area. WSP 1312: 1932(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1919 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1312. Published as "near Cowles" 1919-25, "at Irvins Ranch" 1926-29, and as "at Irvins Ranch near Pecos" 1930-39.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 7,502.94 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Oct. 27, 1977, at site 30 ft upstream at same datum.
REMARKS - Water years 2014-2019; records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Diversions for irrigation of about 75 acres, 1959 determinations, upstream from station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Sept. 29, 1904, was greatest since 1886, from information by local residents.
